A Ride for Hope

About a month ago my brain via God's direction said let's do something for missions / outreach and make it something challenging. I have been so blessed by God that anything that I undertake is nothing compared to what He has given me. However I want to give back in some way to those and for those that at this point in their lives cannot. So in about 20 seconds of reflection (obeying) I decided to take a bicycle ride from Damascus VA to Sullivans Island SC, Why not? Did I have any idea of any details nah not at the time so it has been fun putting it together. Much to do and a long way to go but we are advancing. Come join me on the journey.

But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, 1 Peter 3:15

Sumter to Moncks Corner

OK lower part of the state can we say HOT.  Mid 90's flat and very little air.  Welcome to SC.
Leaving Sumter was fairly interesting as the main roads out are 4 lanes with a great deal of traffic until you get out a bit.  Once out though was a cyclist dream.  Basically 7 lane highways for the most part. After departing with hot water no ice in vending machine, it was off to Manning then Greeleyville.  This was mainly a day of cylcling as there is pretty much nothing but farm land and woods between.  Starving in both towns but my route had no anything no Mc D's no Hardees no anything so it was Cliff Bars and Gatorade.  Did drink 1/2 gallon of Gatorade at two different stops.  HOT.  It was weird pedaling and seeing I 95 signs and Myrtle Beach signs.  Besides my heart rate sky rocketing after the crop duster buzzed me on the way to Greeleyville this was a day of surviving the heat.  Please put Donald (see pic) and Tracey in your prayers as I talked to both on the way.  Request unspoken but God knows what is needed.

Ice Machine that did NOT work
leaving Sumter with hot water to get hotter
at least it was wet
The cyclist dream road.  6 ft bike lane with 4 lane highway
plus center lane.  It was basically a 7 lane highway with very
little traffic.  If the bike lanes would have been perfectly clean
and a tail wind it would have been cycling utopia.

Farm land below Sumter.  Got buzzed by a crop duster.
