A Ride for Hope

About a month ago my brain via God's direction said let's do something for missions / outreach and make it something challenging. I have been so blessed by God that anything that I undertake is nothing compared to what He has given me. However I want to give back in some way to those and for those that at this point in their lives cannot. So in about 20 seconds of reflection (obeying) I decided to take a bicycle ride from Damascus VA to Sullivans Island SC, Why not? Did I have any idea of any details nah not at the time so it has been fun putting it together. Much to do and a long way to go but we are advancing. Come join me on the journey.

But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, 1 Peter 3:15

And So It Begins

To steal a line from The Lord of the Rings.."And so it begins"  What an awesome day.  VA Creeper Damascuss VA to Boone NC.  53 miles of some beautiful country.  Seemed like 50 miles of climbing especially l'alpe d'321 going into Boone from Mountain City.  I met some awesome people and had many prayers going out.  Thanks to my new friends Casey, Carmen, James, Terry, Jonathan.  There are some good stories brewing.
Here are some pics from day 1.  Coming out of Damascuss was beautiful riding along a river.  Now on a soap box.  As you ride on this great earth God created, you can see His beauty and feel His power, and you can also see and feel mankind's lack there of as seen in the pics.  As I saw at every stop where the scenes were beautiful, man left his mark.  Please please if you are in these places or any place, leave it better than you found it.!! Ok enough on that but pass it on.

Crazy up here as you race thunderstorms there is no way to tell where they are or where you are for that matter too many peaks and valleys.  Luckily I dodged two major hail storms and made it to Boone only hot and tired..
Thanks to the Rock Hill Bike Shop for posting to Facebook and hopefully we can promo cycling some more.
Until next time, Blessings
