A Ride for Hope

About a month ago my brain via God's direction said let's do something for missions / outreach and make it something challenging. I have been so blessed by God that anything that I undertake is nothing compared to what He has given me. However I want to give back in some way to those and for those that at this point in their lives cannot. So in about 20 seconds of reflection (obeying) I decided to take a bicycle ride from Damascus VA to Sullivans Island SC, Why not? Did I have any idea of any details nah not at the time so it has been fun putting it together. Much to do and a long way to go but we are advancing. Come join me on the journey.

But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, 1 Peter 3:15

Back on Line Hickory to Kings Mountain / My Plans Stink

Cranked up from Hickory a little late, the ride from Boone took a delayed toll on this old body.  Forgot to mention the cool small towns that traveled through from Lenoir--Hudson--Sawmills--Granite Falls-- all cool little towns.  Hickory was an awesome ride leaving through the back country with numerous rolling hills.  Made it to 321 and was going well even though a fast 4 lane.  I had an 8 ft lane to myself with the shock barrier in between.  Reached Lenoir and something (Somebody) told me to exit which I did.  I got to the top of the exit and looked at the road.  I decided 321 was easier so I went back to the 4 lane.  And to my dismay after about a mile the great riding lane ceased to exist.  No go with 18 wheelers at 70 mph and no shoulder so turned and actually walked bike back to exit through the weeds.  That began the business 321 route + others that was awesome.  Met Kiedra at The Rock Fitness (great place)  Made it to Dallas NC where I met a great guy who gave me directions through the country on bike club routes.  Also on these and 321 had about 30 miles of fresh black top.  This day was tough and long made it to Kings Mountain around sunset.
